We Are Your Source for a Healthy Night’s Sleep!

Are You New to CPAP Therapy?

We would like to welcome you to our service. If you are new to CPAP, you are not alone, and at times you will find it can be frustrating and may need desensitization. Please contact your Sleep Specialist to assist you with desensitization.

On the brighter side of things once you get used to the CPAP you will most likely feel more energetic, less fatigued throughout the day and see improvement in other health issues such as hypertension, depression, mood swings, cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure.

We don’t expect you to start therapy and not have any problems. Everyone is different. If you have a hard time with your mask, you need to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

If you are watching TV, or reading a book, put your mask on and turn on your CPAP. This helps to become accustomed to your mask and therapy.

CPAP Equipment Care for Best Performance

CPAP Device
Your CPAP device does not require regular servicing, however, to increase the life of your CPAP your filters should be changed regularly. A blocked air filter may compromise your treatment pressure.

Disposable filters should be changed once every 2 weeks. The foam filter should be washed in soapy, lukewarm water, and air dry once a week.

Air Tubing
Air tubing should be cleaned once a week. Use warm soapy water to wash tubing. Dry the tubing out of direct sunlight, as UV rays will break down the plastic. Replace tubing if you notice any sign of deterioration.

Mask System
The mask frame, cushion, and headgear should be kept clean to continue to provide a quality seal. Most mask cushions are removable so you can clean on a regular basis. Wash your face each night to remove excess facial oils and minimize the build-up on your mask between cleanings.
Every few days the mask, headgear, and cushion should be hand washed in lukewarm, soapy water.

NOTE: Use pure soaps. DO NOT use oils. bleach. moisturizing or anti-bacterial soaps. or any chlorine compounds to wash mask components.

You may also consider using the So-Clean Machine which will also help prevent infection or reinfection from a dirty machine.

Water Chamber
Clean water chamber once a week with soapy water, rinse, and air dry to prevent deposit buildup. If you have an F&P ICON CPAP model, the water chamber is dishwasher safe.
